Michigan Legislative Updates
2007
CHANGES IN THE GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE!
Earl Jerzyk, CST stepped down from his position as Chair of the
Government Affairs Committee on June 3rd. The Officers and Board
members cannot thank Earl enough for his efforts and
contributions to the committee as its Chair. Earl loves being a
surgical technologist and has been actively supporting the
advancement of our profession for years. Although no longer
chair of the committee, this is not retirement for Earl! He
plans to remain actively involved on the committee and continue
supporting the legislative efforts for surgical technologists!
Thank You Earl!
Rebecca Pieknik, CST/CSA, past president of MSA-AST has
graciously accepted the position of Chair of the Government
Affairs Committee. Rebecca has been MSA-AST link to House
Representative John Stakoe. Representative Stakoe is working
tirelessly on our behalf to obtain the recognition of Surgical
Technologists in the State of Michigan! Watch for updates in
these efforts! Welcome Rebecca!
MSA-AST has pursued 2 adventures since February 2007. The first
is the MSA Membership Survey and the second is the Petition for
Support of Certification for Surgical Technologists in Michigan.
The survey will allow us to learn about the different hospitals
and surgery centers where the membership is employed. You can
find the survey results by regions and then as a state by
clicking here. If you did not complete a survey and would
like to add information about where you work, please go to this
link.
Adobe Acrobat reader is required to open this
form, to complete and to submit it.
The Petition was passed out at the Spring Workshop in Jackson on
March 24, 2007. If you would like a copy of the petition to
obtain signatures, please contact
Rebecca Pieknik.
